How do I use ftp? |
|
| |
FTP is an acronym for File Transfer Protocol. This protocol allows files to be transferred over the Internet from one machine to another. On the Mac side there is fetch and anarchie, for Windows there is WS_FTP and CuteFTP. All these programs are available from the web.
To access our ftp site you will require a user ID and password. You will receive an e-mail with the host address, a user ID and a password. Once you have received this information, your files will be accessible to you. Launch one of the FTP programs.
You now want to make a connection to our server (this can usually be found under file in the menu). A window should appear asking for; an address or host , your user ID, and password. Once you are logged in, you will be prompted to your own personal folder. There will be two file versions available to you; the straight file and a ".bin extension". You can download either. The program will usually ask you where to save the file unless you have previously specified. Once this is done, the file will start downloading. |

What are your digital file specifications? |
|
| |
Preview: 72dpi, RGB, approx. 250 pixels by 300 pixels, jpeg, watermarked, you will receive a brief caption
Standard Hi-Resolution: 300 dpi, RGB, 5 x 7 inches (approx. 1500 pixels by 1200 pixels)
Custom Hi-resolution: Most images are available at 300 dpi, with a print size of 8 x 10 inches or larger. Some images are available at up to 20 x 30 inches.
Why Photo Researchers does not provide CMYK. CMYK conversion is based on various factors including ink sets, dot gain, paper and paper stock. Since we cannot predict which setting are needed by your printer, nor can we do a sample print run to fine tune the CMYK conversion, it is best to receive an RGB image from us and have the printer do their own conversions. The default settings for CMYK conversion which we can provide may not produce the best results for your project.
Transparencies or Prints are also available for most images. |
